Kim English
(She/Her/Hers)
Kimberley A. English RN, EdD has with more than 35 years of practice across urban, rural, remote, and Indigenous health contexts in Canada. She is nursing faculty at the Trent/Fleming School of Nursing at Trent University. Kim’s background has given her an unusual vantage point: inside the systems that shape nursing, and alongside the nurses those systems too often fail.
Her work is grounded in story. As a narrative inquirer, documentary filmmaker, and narrative therapist, Kim understands that the people who come to her for support are not broken — they are in the middle of a story that has stopped making sense. Her practice creates the conditions for people to find their thread again: to name what is true, to locate themselves in their own experience, and to move forward from that ground.
Kim holds a Bria Menopause Mental Health certification and training in cognitive behavioural therapy, trauma-informed care, narrative therapy, and crisis debriefing. As a Registered Nurse in Ontario, she is authorized under the Nursing Act to provide psychotherapy, bringing clinical depth and relational care to every therapeutic encounter.
Her counselling practice centres four populations she knows well: women navigating menopause and hormonal transitions, rural and agricultural workers carrying the particular weight of land-based lives, women in the midst of major life change, and professionals navigating workplace harm and the erosion of their sense of self. Across all of these, her approach is the same — relational, narrative, and unhurried.
Practice Positioning Statement: Every person who walks through my door is living inside a story that has stopped making sense. Maybe their body has changed in ways nobody prepared them for. Maybe the land they have worked their whole life feels like it is slipping away. Maybe the career they built their identity around has left them hollow. Maybe a transition they did not choose has unmade something they thought was permanent.
My work is narrative and relational at its core. I help people find the thread of their own story again — not by fixing what is broken, but by sitting with them long enough to hear what is actually true. Drawing on narrative therapy, trauma-informed care, and over 35 years of nursing and healthcare practice, I offer counselling and coaching that honours the whole person: their body, their history, their relationships, and their voice.
